Hi Jeanine.
Thanks for reminding me to bring extra gloves/mittens. And, as a knitter, I have lots of cowls and scarves.
Are you still waiting to get a new dog? You've been on the list quite a while, as I'm sure I don't have to remind you.
Tracy

Hi Tracy,

Congrats!

I was just thinking about that class and wondering myself.

I was in a winter class for my last dog, different school but hey, winter class is winter class, right? Right.

I was at GDF in 2015, arguably one of the worst winters recently. The beginning of January was fine but by the time we got there, 21 inches of snow the first day of class, followed by progressively equal amounts every other day or so. Oh yeah, and cold and ice. You can thank me later for getting you so excited about class. 😼

Layers. Yes, layers. Lots of socks as they get wet easily. Good boots and several pairs of gloves. That was my first class with full-on food rewards and my hands were so chapped from cold and constant washing to get the dog food smell off. Lighter cotton gloves under your other gloves help. I personally like to wear mittens so I’d do the glove under the mitten. Neck gators also help, those kind of extended turtle neck things that help hold the heat in around your neck.

All the best to you during class.

Jenine
