Hello Everyone,

I’m just coming in on the middle or the end f this conversation, but here are my thoughts. While I think it’s a great idea to talk with other guide dog users, and even other graduates from a particular school, I would strongly encourage individuals to do their own research What breeds work for one person, may not work for someone else. The same thing can be said about a particular training program. Ultimately, the decision regarding which dog breed will work best for anyone of us is up to the training programs; as they are the training experts. If the school does a thorough job at the initial home interview, chances are, that the school will do a pretty good job of matching a dog However, once a person is in class, and actually working with the dog they are matched with, things might turn out differently. This is no fault of the school, and certainly does not mean that there’s something wrong with the handler. This exact thing happened to me when I was in class getting Cash. Hope this makes sense. Take care and stay safe. Warm regards.
