You are correct.  I have complete unconditional ownership from Pilot Dogs
but I can still take advantage of their $200 annual vet stipend.  The
training department is only a phone call away if I need them.  They respect
me as a responsible adult who graduated with one of their dogs and for me to
know if and when I need their assistance.

I agree. However, as some schools have demonstrated, no services need be
curtailed by providing ownership. In fact, providing continued follow-up
services and veterinary monetary assistance should be considered good
selling points to consider those schools.

Hi;

The other side of the coin is that you don't want to leave a dog training
program and have them wish you luck and be totally on your own.  If used
properly, field representatives can be a valuable resource.  I think the
hard part would be finding some reasonable middle ground.
