You will be required to stay overnight in the Student Residence 1-3 nights per week throughout the year. Your duties will include:

· Providing mentorship and counseling to clients on issues affecting their relationship with their guide, referring complex matters or concerns to appropriate instructor/supervisor staff

· Managing critical situations requiring immediate intervention, including acting in response to dog and client medical emergencies after hours and reporting noteworthy incidents

· Orienting clients to the residence building and campus grounds and providing theoretical orientation to town routes via tactile or computer maps

· Facilitating evening and weekend group on-campus educational experiences

· Assisting clients with the use of various electronics available in the residence (e.g., computers, alarm clocks, televisions) and in the use of adaptive technologies available (e.g., JAWS, global positioning systems, Aira)

· Assisting with the scheduling and training of the volunteers that drive and orient clients to the residence.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Ability to work with, teach, and engage socially with individuals of various personalities, abilities, and communication styles

· Ability to display a balance of flexibility and professionalism in interactions with clients, volunteers and staff.

· Solid time management, organizational, and administrative skills

· Availability to work weekends and some holidays and be flexible with work times

· Ability to safely handle a variety of large breed dogs, weighing up to 90 lbs., with varying strength and manageability

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook email, Word, Excel, SalesForce, and Access or other database applications

· Prior experience caring for and handling dogs is highly desired

· Guide Dog user experience is preferred

What sets us apart?

· GDB offers a stable, professional career, with the potential for longevity and ongoing learning and growth.

· You’ll feel personal pride in supporting our mission that means so much to so many.

· You’ll work with passionate people across GDB who are invested in each other and provide support.

· Our generous benefits package includes medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, 403(b), generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and great wellness perks like yoga, circuit training, and an onsite gym.
