			It's the addage "It works on paper.. but nobody lives on paper". 
Madison, you think it's weird that you don't know more and that's a valid question. Why not ask various schools to give you an answer to this question and see what you think. 
You can also decide "too weird, no dog for me". That's also valid.

Actually, often the instructors don't even make a final selection until the day you are assigned a dog. When attending in-class training the instructors are getting to know you, observe you and exploring the various dog options for you. As others have said, the best thing for you is to keep an open mind in part because that is exactly what the instructors are doing. While they may have some ideas on the best dogs for their students, they want to get as much information as possible before making what they hope will be a final decision

>From my understanding most schools would do this. The idea is that you will keep a completely open mind, and simply the less one is told about a dog the easier it is to do so. It can be annoying as we'd all like to know more about our potential match but schools want us to keep our minds open.
