I will mostly leave this to the lawyers, but it is my understanding that unless the dog presents a real health hazard then you can keep your guide with you. As you said, a crate would make the most sense.

Subject: [NAGDU] Guide dogs, job, ADA law

Hi everyone I have a question about guide dogs in a A job that is in and near a kitchen. I have applied for a job at a cafeteria and I wouldn’t really be doing much food prep but they’re saying that when I apply for a guide dog again that that guy dog could not be in the back in the kitchen. And I had attended a job wo workshop in Oregon that had said that it is possible to have one as long as they’re in a crate that catches hair and it’s a set place for your guy dog to be that it would be allowed. I’m needing to know if there is ADA law that supports that or is it according to your employers if they allow it. And I need proof to of back that up.
