I would talk about how the dog is not expected to be in work mode 24/7, that the dog has play and snuggle time every day, that sort of thing. If you mention access laws, I'd make sure they know that you as the handler have the rights, not the dog.

I suppose the first thing I'd say is that it's a team effort.  The person gives directions, and the dog follows them as best it can, looking out for obstacles and dangers along the way.  I'm sure you know this, but a lot of non-guide dog users don't seem to.

I am on my third guide dog from Guiding Eyes.  His name is Frodo and will be
13 years old on 1/26/2024.

Frodo is now retired.
