Sorry, this is in our own vehicle and they are hard plastic and do not fold. I think that we bought them at the car dealer.

Where did you get the plastic protective floor mats? When folded up, are they easier to carry than towels? Can they be folded up?
Thanks
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

I agree with you. We have plastic protective floor mats to help protect the carpet. I've been known to take a brush and dish soap to clean ground-in hair and dirt out of floor mats. I will say that it is easier than cleaning spilled lattes out of the carpet. My husband picked up four drinks from the local Star Bucks and put them in the carriers on the floor on my side of the car and he had to stop suddenly and it took a lot of scrubbing to get that smell out.

You are correct in terms of grooming your dog. This is part of their salary and they earn it. I have known of people being asked not to bring their working dog back into a public place until they were properly groomed and cleaned because they smelled so badly. Unfortunately for the dog he was at the mercy of their owner, but the managers and owners of the gym were clearly within their rights to ask him to clean and groom their dog before returning. My dogs are not allowed on the seats in vehicles or furniture in houses or hotels. Fortunately they have mostly been petite like me so they fit well but I had a Golden who was about seventy pounds and it was a tight fit in some cars. I absolutely loved both of my Goldens but they require the most and constant grooming of all of my dogs. My husband used to say that we didn't have to worry about people getting hurt if they fell in our house because, between the Golden and our long-haired cat it was well cushioned. He exaggerates , of course, because they both were groomed daily but it is true with the long haired animals the vacuums may pick it up but it takes repeated passes. My husband used to say that the hair would just float in the air and giggle until you turned off the vacuum and then land once it was off.

I know my husband has a really hard time getting my dog's fur out of his floor mat in his car. So I put towels down in my husband's car. Plus I groom the dog every single day. If a blind person does not groom their dog often, I don't blame ride share drivers at all!

Hi all,

I recently took a Lyft to a shopping center near my house. The woman was not happy that she had to pick me up with my dog guide but did so nonetheless.
As we were driving I engaged her in conversation about her resistance to taking the dog and she told me that many drivers are concerned because if they take a dog guide in their car and they aren't able to get all of the dog hair out before someone rides with them who has severe allergies the company will do nothing to help them with any law suits. I was curious whether others have ever had a driver express this concern. The logical solution is to have a specific percentage of cars be allergy-free so no perfumes,, dog etc. The problem would be that they couldn't guarantee that one of the passengers wouldn't have a pet at home and bring some of their fur on their clothing without any knowledge. Has anyone else had any similar experiences?

Joy and Vicky, Who says that the brisk air out there makes for fine walking and hopes that all of her colleagues out there are getting similar walks.
