[NAGDU] Question about share ride drivers and dog hair

I carry stuff in my backpack: towel, a foldup bowl, a "tie down" (because she chews on leather leashes), and a small lint roller.

Hi, from a practical perspective, what do you carry all of this extra equipment for the dog in? I used to put a rain coat on my dog when I rode the buss and metro because it was much nicer for the other passengers who didn't get the shower of loose hair when we boarded. Then, I had quite a back pack of stuff to carry with me. I was working then and I'm retired now and don't take as many buses and trains as I used to. Another trick I learned is to get my dogs to shake before we go into a place of business or home, including ours, when it is raining. I simply say "shake" then and gently run my fingers up their back so that their hairs stands on end and they shake to straighten it out. Then I praise them. It saves on some of the wet pieces of hair being shook all over walls etc.

I'm on my first dog as well. But I carry a towel for the dog to lie on in the cars. If she has to temporarily jump on the seat to get out, then so be it. I don't make a big deal about that and I also carry unscented dog wipes to wipe her feet if they get wet. She also has a doggie raincoat which keeps the rain off her neck and trunk. So in torrential rain, only her face and legs get wet. I got it from the gift shop at Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael, CA. It's easy to put on and I think it just feels like the collar and harness to the dog - she doesn't mind wearing it.

I know we are supposed to not allow our dogs on the seat in ride shares, but what happens if your dog is not able to lie on the floor, like with small cars, or if they only get on the seat to turn around to get out of the car? I try to limet this obviously, but I have been in very small cars where there is no room for the dog to be on the floor. I brush my dog daily, but there is always hair. I would understand if a driver didn't want to take a dog with odors, but what about when it rains and there's that wet dog smell? Asking because I am on my first dog and currently living where riding in other people's cars is necessary.
