Hi Al.

Long Island City is in Queens, and reasonably easy to get to for many in the
New York metro area.  I think you could get people to come from New Jersey,
especially if our national office contacted our affiliate president about
it.  I would go, for one.  

I don't know about the New York affiliate these days, but Heather Byrd does.


There are many guide dog users in this area from TSE, GEB, GDF and Fidelco,
as well as other schools.  I'm with Kevan Worley on this.  Uber's denials
are affecting everyone's graduates, and people must at least think about it
when deciding to get or replace a dog.  The schools could at the very least
send out an email blast to their graduates, giving them the time and place,
with enough notice to make plans to get there.  It would be done best as a
coalition effort, so no one could say they don't want to be with "those"
people.  Not all the schools around here love the NFB, but the ones that
don't seem to love GDUI.

 

I'm assuming the DOT is in DC, and I could get there, too, without a huge
effort.  Others from this area might be willing to go as well, though it's
not as easy as getting over to Queens.
