[NAGDU] Dentistry

Hi, I am there,

More accurately, Vicky is there. I recently had Vicky's teeth cleaned because the removal of cracked back molars means that they get build-up that regular brush will not remove. In the process the vet found a loose middle front tooth that she must have bumped somewhere. Anyway, she spent most of the day at the Vet's. We came home with medication and a quiet and sleepy lab. The advice to feed a high quality prescription dog food didn't work out to be the best thing for Vicky. Basically, since Friday night I and Vicky have been going outside every three hours. She has lots of gas and a very small amount of evidence for her discomfort and urgency. That is, unfortunately, except for a couple of times when thing blew up. Thankfully we have hard wood floors which clean much easier than rugs. She is now on another medication to help with the diary and is on the way to recovery. She is also back to her regular food. Not all dogs have such drastic reactions to changes in food or presence of medication. The only thing that I can say is that I am thankful that I was able to enjoy a nice time with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate my birthday before things blew up. We spent three days in not very pleasant worry and action but she has survived. Dogs, like people, have different reactions to changes in diet and to medications. I personally don't do real well with either so I can sympathize. I recommend that you be vigilant and ask lost of questions. If things seem wrong, don't hesitate to call the vet and ask questions. I personally am looking forward to sleeping a full night which I hope will happen soon. My kids are both in the thirties and I no longer have to get up with them, so I guess it's appropriate that Vicky and I get to do these things together. My husband has been earning halo points with his support over the past four days.

I wish you both the best.

Joy with Vicky who says enough sharing of her personal issues, thank you.

Tracy, my previous dog had teeth removed and was fine afterwards. I think it was two, and I didn't have to do anything differently after that. I don't know what would have happened if the vet had needed to remove more than that.
