On the announcement from GDB about regulatory changes, there's a picture of
a woman snuggling her labrador. Is that the GDB logo? I kinda think it is.
If it is, isn't it playing into the public idea that our dogs are mainly
"companions in our lonely darkness", an idea that used to be widespread in
fundraising literature for the schools? And, if their main function is as
emotional support, then, some might think, why should they be allowed where
other ESA's aren't? Why should we have them in a rideshare, or traveling
with us, or in a hotel? After all, it's just a glorified pet, right?
I really think a guide dog school logo should have something to do with
actual guiding. That sends the message I want sent. I know it makes them
all look similar, but, since the school is paying some firm to come up with
something snappy, pay them to come up with something meaningful as well.
Jumping down from my soapbox.
Tracy
