> Dear Federation Family,
>
> Congratulations to us all on our hard work regarding the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act! Because of our tremendous work, the House of Representatives on May 15, 2024, passed H.R. 3935 with overwhelming bipartisan support keeping all of the accessibility provisions intact. Thank you to all who made calls and sent emails to your United States Senators and Representatives over the past two weeks! H.R. 3935 is expected to head to President Biden’s desk no later than Friday May 17, 2024 for his consideration and we anticipate he will sign the bill thereby reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration.
>
> Specific accessibility provisions in H.R. 3935 that would benefit blind and disabled air travelers include:
> Training requirements for assisting passengers with disabilities.
> Better access standards for the accessibility of in-flight entertainment.
> Improved access to airline websites.
> Initiates a pilot program for air passengers to register their service animal, eliminating the need to complete the service animal forms for each flight.
>
> We believe these are significant improvements to the air traveling process for blind and disabled passengers. The National Federation of the Blind strongly advocated for many of the above mentioned accessibility provisions and your calls/emails made an impact ensuring the above items were kept in the final legislative package. This is great work and we all should be proud of our collective action on this issue.
>
> Thank you!
