I need to get my job search moving forward,

I've read books on job search, had a class in job search, and listened to
counselors and coaches on job search but am still looking for my job. I
really have to ask myself if I have I listened or am I operating outside of
the obvious. Here is what I know I need to do to move effectively to my
next role, one that will meet my requirements and those of the employer of
my choice:

1. Know, or identify, the skills that I am best at using.

2. Identify where and how I have used those skills.

3. Put those skills down on paper.

4. Identify the employers I want to work for and create a written list
of those employers.

5. Identify the career fields and positions in those fields that those
employers have, and where my skills are used and sought via job postings,
etc.

6. Learn who the decision makers are in those functions within those
companies I want to work with.

7. Research those companies via the Internet, libraries, professional
associations, friends, contacts and my network.

8. Create my resume database so I can quickly create focused resumes
to meet the specific requirements of the specific positions I seek.

9. Submit the resumes, but much more important:

10. Find a contact to connect with and have that individual hand carry the
resume to the decision maker.

11. Where possible connect with an employee in each of the organizations I
want to work with.

12. Practice my "sound bites," particularly my 30 second and my "tell me
about yourself" question. Have these down comfortably, and focused to the
specifics I can contribute to the employer.

Of course there is more but now I must ask myself, how many of the steps
above have I done and am doing.

Have a great couple of weeks and make the day for another.
