Here is another message with a link to a recording from the State of Washington …

Greetings friends,

Below is a message I posted on the NFB of Washington listserv. It contains a link to a song that speaks to me of the One Voice of the National Federation of the Blind.

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season.

The National Federation of the Blind of Washington knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

Hello,

Season’s Greetings to all. I hope each of you has a great 2019. I think it will be a great year for the National Federation of the Blind of Washington.

This morning I found a beautiful song called “One Voice”. To me it embodies the spirit of the National Federation of the Blind. Whether we are one single voice speaking out against discrimination and encouraging blind people to realize their dreams, two voices together, a chapter, an affiliate or the entire Federation we speak with one voice of love, hope and determination We leave behind lives shaped by low expectations. All are welcome in our NFB family.

This song was written by Ruth Moody of the Wailin’ Jennys. It was performed in the Washington National Cathedral by the United States Air Force Symphony Orchestra, the Singing Sergeants joined toward the end by several adult and children’s choirs.
