Greetings Federation family and friends
Extra. Extra. Read all about it! Get your Newsline here!
Last chance. I am reminding all of you to give me a call or email to sign up
for NFB Newsline
This is our opportunity to try the service in North Dakota until May 15th.
North Dakota is one of the 4 states in the country that does not have access
to NFB Newsline. The service has been available since the mid 1990's
We can have our own North Dakota channel, or anyone in North Dakota can have
a channel. When we can get the service in North Dakota, we will have access
to 2 local newspapers automatically, and the option to add as many
newspapers as we would like. The cost is estimated to be $1 per the
estimated 20, 000 blind and low vision residence of North Dakota.
Now is your chance to try it! We will always advocate for the blind and low
vision people of North Dakota for equal access to such things as the
newspapers, tv listings, weekly retail ads, weather, magazines, job listings
and more!
Newsline can be accessed through the phone, app on a smart phone, the
internet, and Amazon Alexa
To learn more, go to
https://www.nfb.org/programs-services/nfb-newsline
In order to get a special temporary access code good until May 15th, contact
myself or Jesse Shirek at president at nfb.org <mailto:president at nfb.org> or
by phone 701-781-2526
Now that the weather is beautiful. I sit on the deck with a hot cup of
coffee and read the newspaper!
We all deserve this access on a permanent basis. Is there any other way
that all residents with low vision and blindness can have access to the
newspapers and all of the information in one place? The answer is no. Not
everyone can use a computer or smart phone. Think about our neighbors losing
eyesight from age-related conditions. They cannot read the newspaper or have
access to what is going on. News on the TV does not give everything like
classified ads, letters to the editor, obituaries, and other topics of
interest like recipes, ads and so on
Let's consider the blind and low vision people, because those are the people
who matter!
Enjoy your weekend and give Newsline a try. We only have 2-weeks left.
Warmly, Sherry

With love, hope & determination, we change dreams into reality
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back
