November 14 Conference Hello all, In case you have not heard, the
Chadron State College Professional Social Work Class is presenting a
conference entitled Disabilities No More, Together We will Explore. The
NCBVI and the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska, Panhandle
Chapter has teamed up with them to develop this conference dealing with
Disability Awareness. The conference will be held at the CSC Student Center
which is across the street and a bit to the East of the football field on
the South side of Campus. The agenda of the conference puts registration
opening at 8 AM, Mountain Time. Our very own Mike Floyd will be the keynote
kick-off speaker. Several breakout sessions will follow with topics not only
concerning blindness but encompassing all physical challenges. The NCBVI
will be hosting two breakout sessions which will tackle subjects dealing
with education and employment of blind and visually impaired individuals.
The free noon lunch will include the keynote speaker Gary May . The
afternoon will entertain other breakout sessions and the last activity of
the conference will be an open mike question and answer period to a panel of
individuals who have been selected by the conference organizers. There
will be many vendors there who will be able to help you find assistance in
conquering the challenges of being differently abled.
some vendors will be representing organizations who help blind and visually
impaired individuals as well as vendors who will be selling and
demonstrating helpful equipment, technology an gadgets. This is going to be
a great day so hopefully you will make plans to attend the conference this
Wednesday at Chadron State College, Chadron , Nebraska. It is open to the
public and there is no charge.

RE: Our Division's new listserv is here

You are getting this message because you are a member of the NFB of Nebraska
Senior Division, and on our Division's new listserv, called
"Nebraska-Senior-Blind" listserv.

The way this works- To send a message to the list, you can do one of two
things: First, if you respond to one of these messages, it goes to everyone
else who is on this listserv. Second, you should put this email address in
your address book/contacts and so if in the future you wish to send a
message to the list, and do not have a message in your inbox that comes from
the list that you can respond to, then you can simply start a new message,
and in the TO field, insert the name of our listserv (your email program
will fill in the name as you start to key it in).

One thing we should always try to do is - make sure the subject line
reflects what your message is addressing. And so, if you respond to a
message, but are totally changing the conversation, as in changing topics,
then change the subject line to reflect the change. (I would assume that if
you are starting with a new message, then you would insert that new topic in
the subject line.)

Some of you I know are old hands at these listservs. And so we can further
help anyone who is new with them.

And before closing- I hope that in your calendar, you did put in the date
for our upcoming telephone meeting! November 18th, 7:00 Central, 6:00
Mountain. I'll send out a reminder as we get closer to the date.
