Good morning fellow NFB Nevada friends and family,
As dedicated members of the National Federation of the Blind of Nevada, we are reaching out to emphasize the urgent need for legislative action to support blind Americans. With both chambers of Congress now back in session following a brief recess, this is a critical window for advocacy. The House and Senate will remain in session through the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 26.
We urge all members of the Nevada delegation, and especially those in the House who have not yet done so, to cosponsor two vital pieces of legislation:
The Blind Americans Return to Work Act (H.R. 1175)
The Access Technology Affordability Act (H.R. 1529)
The Access Technology Affordability Act is particularly time-sensitive, as it has the potential to be included in a larger forthcoming tax package. Broad support through cosponsorship is essential to ensure that this legislation receives the attention and prioritization it deserves. Access to technology is not a luxury—it is a necessity for full participation in education, employment, and civic life.
We respectfully call on our congressional representatives to demonstrate their commitment to equal opportunity for blind Americans by supporting these measures.
