Whether you’re starting a book group, planning a party or getting to know professionals in your field, social networking can help you connect, share experiences, and learn. It can also help you stay informed of changes and trends affecting people with disabilities in your local community and across the globe. During this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to use Facebook and Twitter for peer support, to plan and publicize events, create discussion groups, and network around your career and interests. Eliza Cooper Eliza spent four years consulting on social media strategy to clients ranging from startups to the United Nations to New York City’s current Chief Digital Officer. Though she has now gone back to graduate school and switched careers, Eliza still uses sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Meetup to build and maintain her professional and social networks. She believes strongly in the value of social media, and encourages you to follow her on Twitter at @Elizain140 Phil So Phil is the founder of Vision Week, New York City's largest blind and low vision event series, founder of iRead Initiative which aims to connect 1000 blind and low vision New Yorkers to unlimited digital reading, founder of the most active blind and low vision Facebook community "New York City Tri-State Blind and Low Vision Community" (and the creator and author of the LinkedIn DTECC strategy that helps jobseekers discover and connect with thousands of disability-friendly employers and managers in 5 easy steps. Phil teaches LinkedIn and Facebook courses at Baruch College Computer Center for Visually Impaired people where he reveals the inside secrets of his success strategies. Prior to his leadership initiatives in disability, Phil worked at the world's #4 marketing research agency, GfK. Phil holds a degree from Columbia University.
