Please join us for an accessible sports round-up, Organized by the NFB of
Rochester, and hosted by the Bay View Family YMCA. Tuesday Evening,
September 24 2019, from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at 1209 Bay Road, Webster
NY 14580. There will be refreshments, presentations, demonstrations and
opportunities to check-out and even try some adapted sports equipment. There
will be presentations by: Rochester Rolling Thunder Rochester's blind
bowling league, Rochester Accessible Adventures, Rochester Area Blind
Athletes/Rochester Pioneers beep baseball team, Camp Abilities, Rochester
Beep Baseball Free Agents Practice Group, Tangible Service Research, and the
Rochester YMCA. Never seen a bowling guide rail before? Want to see a sports
harness on a guide dog and learn about distance walking and even running
with your guide dog? Want to learn about fantastic sports opportunities for
kids and how a great local university makes that happen and helps train
adaptive phys. Ed. Teachers of the future? Interested in joining a local
team or league to participate in beep baseball, goal ball, beep kickball, or
bowling? Have you ever considered blind people participating in downhill
skiing, kayaking, white water rafting, rock climbing, high ropes course,
judo, gymnastics, swimming, and more? Want to learn more about making
fitness equipment accessible to work out independently in your home or at a
local gym? Want to find sports opportunities from recreational to
competitive, for children, adults and senior citizens? Then come and see
what opportunities there are in Rochester. This event is open to people who
are blind, parents of blind children, blindness professionals such as TVI, O
and M, AT and APE instructors, students of Physical Education, adaptive, or
not, and anyone else interested in learning more about, participating in, or
volunteering with sports in which blind people participate. This event is
free, thanks to the efforts of the NFB of Rochester,, a local chapter of a
501C3 not-for-profit and the generous donation of the space by the Rochester
