Convention Information

The 2020 NFBAR state convention will be hosted by the NFB of NWA chapter. In an effort to protect the health and safety of our members and attendees, all events will be held virtually. We will be using Zoom to connect and attend all meetings, sessions, and our annual banquet.

Zoom Meeting Etiquette

Each Zoom call will be managed by hosts. The hosts control the call settings and can mute and unmute participants. Our speakers for the session will be hosts, in addition to people assigned to assist with the logistics of the meeting. We ask all speakers that are hosts to stay muted when not speaking.

All participants that are not hosts will be muted automatically when joining. Anyone that would like to speak, should select the option to raise their hand. A host will acknowledge, at which time the option to unmute will be available. Our hosts do not have the ability to raise their hands, so those hosting should only unmute at appropriate times.

We ask people joining our meetings by phone to dial in early. For record keeping, phone numbers will need to be renamed by a host after connecting. This process must be restarted each time a caller hangs up and rejoins. To keep an accurate participation list, we ask that those dialing in by phone not hang up between sessions.

If available, we would love for attendees to use video when calling in. Those participants that do should be mindful that others can see them. Please make sure your video is appropriate for a public meeting.

All meetings will be starting on time, based on this agenda. We ask that participants connect approximately 15 minutes before each meeting. This will ensure there is time to address any connectivity problems.

Elections Over Zoom

Voting will take place using Zoom. Anyone planning to call in by phone should send an email to pchang at nfb.org mailto:pchang at nfb.org to declare the phone number from which they will be calling. This will help to validate votes if names are not showing on the participant list. When voting, raise your hand and keep it up. The host will lower hands after votes are counted and validated. Two employees of the NFB, not Arkansas members, will count and validate votes.

Door Prizes

Door prizes will be drawn during the convention’s general sessions and during the banquet. To win, you must be registered for the convention, and be present when your name is called. If your name is called for a door prize, raise your hand! If you have difficulty raising your hand in Zoom you can respond in one of the following ways but must do so before the next-door prize break.
