[NFB-Blind-Crafters] Gluing a lid back together

Hi Tracy,

What is the diameter of the lid?

One way to hold the lid together, as suggested earlier, is with rubber bands
or twist ties. If it is a large diameter lid, large rubber bands and long
twist ties that are found around celery, asparagus, etc. are great for this
purpose.

Also, to keep the lid flat and prevent it from warping while tightening the
bands/ties, I would put some weight on the lid while it dries on a flat
surface covered with wax paper or aluminum foil to prevent the lid sticking
to the flat surface.

Another method is to place wax or parchment paper between the box and the
glued up lid. Place the lid on the box with the wax paper between the lid
and the box. If the lid originally had a tight fit, the box will act as a
clamp and hold the glued up lid in place as it dries. This will work best
with smaller boxes.

Hope this helps and you have a Happy New Year.

Ray

First of all and most importantly to me is the dog alright? I hope and pray
that he or she didn't get any splinters in his or her throat or mouth.
Please keep a close eye on him or her, o k?

How about rubber bands to hold the lid together while it dries.

My dog decided it would be amusing to take the lid off a wooden box and chew
on it while I was in another room.

I can glue it back together, I think, but I'm not sure how to hold it
together until the glue dries. The only glue I have is craft glue, the kind
people here have recommended.

The lid is rounded on the top and has a rim that stands out from the base,
so that it fits well on the box.

Anyone know how I can hold the lid together while it dries?

Tracy
