Oopse, did that wrong. I did the long stiches then went back down and went between the first stiches. They are pretty loose, which explains the gappy stitches. This is on the inside, but still I would like to learn to sew it up strong.



Should I take it out and do the stitches as you say.

Becky, do you want the seam to stretch along with the fabric?  You have to determine where the seam was and pin or baste along that line.  Then sew along that line using medium sized stitches.  Each time you take a stitch, go back half the way so you are overlapping the stitches to keep the stretch.

Hi Becky.

Is there fabric on both sides of the seam?  Sometimes, the outer edge of the fabric turns into loose threads, and then there’s nothing on one side for the seam thread to hold on to.

Otherwise, I’m not sure what to tell you.

Great, how do I sew stretchy material together. It looks to me like the sceme just let go and the thread is still attached, but not to both sides of this hole. Is there some special type of thread or sewing technique I need to sew this sceme closed?

Cindy has slots available in the September chat schedule for a class or 2 on hand sewing.

I can teach how to thread a needle, sew a seam or hem, how to sew on a patch or apliqué, and, if people want, how to sew on a button.  I taught buttons before, but it was a couple years ago.

Is there interest in any of these things?  If so, which ones?
