I just finished a very nice hat in 2 colors with a diamond pattern. It uses
the same technique as the slip-stitch cowl we did in our knit-along earlier
this spring. It was really easy. Just work 2 rows in one color, slipping
stitches where the pattern says to, then work 2 rows in the other color,
following the pattern. People in my in-person knitting group didn't believe
me when I said it was easy, but I really think anyone who can knit, purl,
and count could do it.
The pattern is called ManHATtan. Notice the clever capitals. It was around
$10 on Ravelry.
I made my first one with a dark brown as the main color and a red for the
contrast. I plan to make more.
I think the slip-stitch technique is called mosaic knitting. It's way
easier than stranded colorwork, like Fair Isle.
