Hi Kelsey, I don't think it is ever a good idea to do something that makes your hands hurt. Have you considered getting a bluetooth braille keyboard for your smartphone? Orbit makes one called the Orbit Writer that it looks like you can buy for around a hundred dollars. Best wishes, Susan Jolly
