Subject: FCC Adopts New Rules for Deployment of Text-to-911
To: "scottdavert at gmail.com" <scottdavert at gmail.com>

On August 8, 2014, the FCC adopted rules to promote widespread
text-to-911 availability in a Report & Order requiring text messaging
providers and certain Internet protocol-based text apps to enable
Americans to text 911 in an emergency.
The FCC also adopted a 3rd Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that
seeks comment on additional issues concerning the provision of
text-to-911, including the delivery of location information, support
for text-to-911 when roaming, and future texting services, such as
real-time text communications.
The due dates for public comments will be announced when available.
