Good afternoon deaf blind list friends, I know this is extremely late but let me pass along best wishes for an outstanding and very productive 2014. A couple things come to mind after reading the first email in this thread. To Ms. Brown what might be helpful for you to join the Mac visionaries email list. There are some deaf blind persons on that list. And the advice that is dispensed to new Apple users is quite helpful. Also you are aware that Apple does have a dedicated disability support area, working group. Sometimes they are quite helpful as well. However one note of caution when dealing with Apple, I make sure that I let them know that I’m using a device that works with my hearing aids when I’m using it because they don’t quite understand why the audio can fluctuate greatly. So it is always helpful to give them a bit of a heads up on the situation. For the most part Apple support staff seem to do a good job. One final request before I go will Cheryl from Montana please give me a jingle? I’ve managed to lose your number. Again all the best.
Sincerely Maurice mines. personal email address, kd0iko at icloud.com.

One of my goals for this year, is to read a Braille book. While it would seem I would appreciate the talking books, with my hearing loss, I simply cannot find the time or the energy to sit and just listen.

Dictation seems to work best in social media. As a writer I really need it to work in Pages. I also need to learn how to use Voiceover. It seems very overwhelming. The constant chatter confuses me. Perhaps there is a better way?
