Hi Janice.
Scott Labar caknoledged the need for a DB devision in Colorado and said that the DB are underserved during the general session after I spoke. There were 14 of us at the DB gathering after general session, 9 of us were DB. So some state presidents do see the need, it's just a matter of getting stuff together.
As for the national DB Devision, one issue I've noticed is lack of communication with DB devision members. For example, during both the 2013 and 2014 national conventions, there were resolutions the DB devision "jed hard to pass, but nothing of this effort was ever mentioned on this mailing list. I would have gladly lended my support, but I had no idea what was happening. I think part of what needs to happen is that the officers moving forward with actions need to be more public about these actions which will also encourage more people to get involved.

Jmo,
Scott

Many of the other divisions, or groups or affiliates have facebook pages, or twitter accounts, or other social media outlets. So should the NFB DB division.

I'm sure you already know Marsha is head of our deaf blind division here in Pennsylvania, but I am willing to do what I can also.

I think one thing the national DB devision needs to do is get digital. What I mean is, get on Facebook, Twitter, get all of the officers on this mailing list, start a news letter, publicize the website, etc. This is just my opinion, but I do not think many of us are aware of what is happening within the national DB devision. If members do not know, how can that help with any sort of effort regarding DB issues? I'm not trying to criticize the leadership with this email at all, so I hope this message is not taken that way, I'm just offering input and suggesttions.

If you or someone you know is interested please let us know. Each of the active members have states that they are trying to find a contact person in that state who will work with their affiliate president on matters of deaf/blind..
