Hi Anjelina and all,
I'm Rox and I'm Deafblind. Mostly I use ASL interpreters and for communication with hearing people, I use a keyboard and my iPhone and braille display. I have one hearing aid that I wear and can use for environmental sounds and if people speak very loudly, but honestly I prefer ASL. I use tactile interpretation because my sight is not good enough for visual ASL. I live in New Orleans.
As for crossing roads, I travel all over. I do have a small amount of sight that is useful for crossing roads. I do get a lot of help from passers by and from my service dog Soleil.
I'm thinking of attending the NFB conference but not sure yet.

I really noticed when the doctor cleaned wax out of my ears but there was no change. I had been using hearing aides now for ten years. I'm now using my third set of aides. I have a program specifically to be use out on the streets so that traffic comes in and the aides don't try to block sounds that are from the environment.I went to hellen keller national center for deaf blind adults and tried to make sure that I was hering as well as posible in as many situations as possible.

Over the years I have noticed some hearing loss in my right ear which I have been able to compensate for. A few weeks ago I had a near run-in with a car while crossing a busy street which really startled me since I didn't hear the car. If you all don't mind, can you tell me a bit about your hearing loss and how you have coped with it?
