Rox: Great news that you are planning to be with us in Orlando. There is a procedure for requesting an SSP, and it was used for the first time last year, if I'm not mistaken. (I hope I'm not getting that confused with requesting an interpreter.) The request should be submitted at the same time with your pre-registration, and there is a deadline for making the request, although I don't yet know what the date is. We are still struggling with the expense of SSPs and interpreters, and we are doing our best to develop a policy that will result in the best possible experience for our deaf-blind brothers and sisters in the Federation. Many of us rely on augmented listening, so we are simultaneously working on improving the listening experience as well.

The SSP Seminar and Deaf-Blind Division meeting will both take place on July 7. I will be speaking by phone with our Division President Mr. Joe Naulty on Monday, April 27, and I will find out as much information as I can, and report back to you. Scott, I hope this means that you are planning on being there as well. It will be a great convention!

Cathy Miller
