Hi,
I am new to this list. I am 71 years of age and hearing loss is catching up with me.

My left ear has had high partial hearing due to life-long infections and scar tissue from infections and one major surgery. My right ear hearing is mostly normal.

My very high notes are gone, but I can still hear quite well in the right ear.

I woke up about a month ago with deafness in the left ear. There's a blockage of some kind. They will use a tube and then probably a hearing aid.

Right now I am having difficulties with hearing directions and locations. This throws me off in many respects.

I turn up Jaws higher. Same for tv, radio and music. Sometimes someone wants me to turn these down but then I have trouble hearing. How do we handle someone wanting our items turned down, but then we won't hear them well? Headphones throw me off, too.

I occasionally experience dizziness when I turn over quickly in bed.

My speech seems to be really loud in my head.
Sometimes people can't hear my speech and
sometimes have trouble understanding me.
(Life-long issues)

Examples of what could help me as a newly-diagnosed deaf/blind person would be helpful.

Having db people to relate with would be very helpful. I know very few, if any, people in a similar situation.
Thanks,
Blessings,
Lauren Merryfield
"What a power is love! It is the most wonderful, the greatest of all living powers. Love gives life to the lifeless. Love lights a flame in the heart that is cold.Love brings hope to the hopeless and gladdens the hearts of the sorrowful. In the world of existence there is indeed no greater power than the power of love."
