[NFB-DB] Rechargeable hearing aids/cochlear processors (Lelan)

I've been using battery hearing aids for the reasons that I use so much power for audio output and streaming. I am about to get cochlear implants and now I am wondering should I get battery cochlear processors or rechargeable cochlear processors?

hi I have rechargeable hearing aides but am having trouble knowing if
they are fully charged as well as placing them in the charger correctly
because if not done exactly right they do not work correctly. neighter
my husband or I can see the charging light any suggestions would be
appreciated. thanks much Sheila from Great falls Montana.

One thing I do each time I see my audiologist, which is twice a year, is to
take my case and have her make sure I'm still inserting them correctly, that
no oddness has crept in. For most of them there is a particular way to do
it, and once you figure it out and get into the habit it should work okay.

This has been one of my complaints, as well as others too.

I wish all the rechargeable ones had an app to use to tell if they are
charged or not. The complication for this for mine is that they shut down
while charging. They come back on after I remove them from the case, or
remove power to the case.

Karen

If your hearing aids connect through Bluetooth to your phone, you should be able to see their battery status in Accessibility. You would double tap on hearing devices then double tap on your aids and somewhere in there there should be a battery status. Also, if you add the battery widget to your phone they will show up there as well.

Personally, I have battery operated ones still. And honestly, feel like they are better and more reliable anyways especially for DeafBlind. Plus we do more streaming  than sighted folks. My audiologist was actually terrified to give me rechargeable considering the amount of streaming audiobooks,  conference calls and just using VoiceOver on my phone.

I don?t think people who really depend on hearing aids, like DB folks or people with profound hearing loss are the greatest candidates for rechargeables. I hear this issue all the time from my work clients. They just aren?t quite there yet. They aren?t reliable enough. I know this doesn?t help you to say this. But I?m just putting it out there because audiologists often don?t understand well enough the pitfalls of rechargeables for DB folks, so advise them to get them when they are frought  with problems. So we need to advocate for regular batteries.

Good evening everyone,

I use rechargeable hearing aids and love them! My charging case remains plugged in at all times and I have not had trouble with them going out when the charger is plugged in. For $10,000 for the pare I had better not have these issues. They work far better than the battery opperated hearing aids I had. I was glad to kiss them good by.
