[Nfb-greeley] 10/12/13 meeting minutes

10/12/13:

 

The meeting was called to order at 12:20 PM. People present were Marty, Melissa, linda, Diane, Rita, Cody, Christie and Bill. A motion was made" seconded and passed to approve both sets of minutes from August and September as they were posted  to the NFB of Greeley Listserv. Treasurer's report said that we have $472.72 in the bank  account after withdrawl of the $65 for those that are going to convention. Melissa paid Linda the water bottle money and the money from Cafe Mexicalli which allowed us to only need to withdraw an additional $65 to make up the $120 for those members of our chapter going to convention. Jessica still has $32 from the sale of water bottles that she sold which she needs to get to the chapter. We collected canned food for a canned food drive to support the victims of last months flooding in the area. On Tuesday, we will have an area set up in the college center  at AIMS from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for White Cane Day. We will be brailleing names and handing out NFB literature. Cody and Melissa will be the primary ones staffing the table that day. Cody will  be there from 1:00-4:30 and Melissa will be staffing it from 8:00-1:00. AIMS is providing coffee and doughnuts in the morning, and are advertising the event in their two college papers. AIMS would like to partner with us more in the future for other special events. They will provide a cake in the afternoon also. This is all coming from Melissa who met with Aims this past Tuesday. We discussed a community service project that we could do for the Christmas season. We have decided to do a project with Northrange Behavioral Health. They would like gift cards as well as children's books. We decided to bring collected items to the Dec meeting which we will try to have on the 14th. We decided to have the Christmas party here  at the Senior Center like we did last year. Furthermore, we  decided that we would take donations from people who want to eat in order to pay for the main dish such as pizza, and then that people could bring other sides to supplement the main dish. Marty, Melissa Cody and Nure are going to State convention. Nure has been paid fully by the State because he is a Scholarship winner. At convention, Cody will serve on nominating committee, and Marty will serve on the Resolutions Committee for our chapter. They will be doing a rolecall of state chapters and divisions this year at  convention and NFBG  needs to discuss what amount we want to pledge to the state during the rolecall. There was a motion made to present the state with a check for $50 during the role  call. We reminded everyone that we will be selling candy bars at state and we asked for donations to offset the cost of the chocolate and other supplies that Melissa, Marty, Linda, Diane and others have contributed thus far. We discussed the  travel raffle that the state is trying to do as a fundraiser reminding those at our meeting to contribute to that. Linda wrote out a check for $50 that we will give to the state afiliate. Next month's meeting will be held on Nov. 23rd at the Greeley Senior Center. A motion was made and seconded to adjourn and we adjourned at 1:10 PM.
