[Nfb-history] Project Ideas

I've sent several NFB of Washington convention recordings to Ed along with a
couple of Diabetes Action Network national convention seminars. I have
another one of these last to send him but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks for posting this, Ed. Such a wonderful presentation. And I'm very
excited about your news concerning state conventions. I have been working
on our group website but have had to spend a lot of time on developing some
business ideas. Finding ways to make more money is a good thing especially
with a baby about a month away!
If I could go ahead and comment on Tina's original questions as to projects
we can work on, I've asked Dr. Maurer this question and he said we should
stick to what we are doing. We have recordings at conventions and helping
with the Oral History Project. As far as digitizing tapes, working from the
original tapes (or, at least as close as possible to the originals) is
certainly the best practice if quality is what you want.

Dear Colleen and other list members--

Thanks for your suggestion about speeches given at state conventions. As it
happens, we are beginning to seriously collect audio material from state
conventions. Enough has been coming in lately that we now face the task
figuring out how to store it and make it available. Stay tuned, because I
expect things to develop quickly over the next couple of years.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone on the list is aware that we recently made
available on our website the talk Kenneth Jernigan prepared for those
occasions when he could not make it to a state local event. Here is the
version of "Why I am a Federationist" that he sent to the newly reorganized
Vermont affiliate when he was unable to attend their state convention:

Enjoy!

Hi Ed,

It's great to hear that these projects are moving forward. Some of us are
not very technical but we do appreciate the efforts of those who are.

I for one think it will be wonderful to preserve this History and pass it on
to generations to come.

I would be really happy if we could save some of the speeches made at State
Conventions when they are of good quality too.

I know this is expensive but for blind people it's nice to have them in an
audio format.

Thanks again for all your efforts in this area,

Colleen Roth

can I do, and is there anyone who can make this happen along with me?
Thanks.
