Hello:

While researching a blind man in Nebraska, I ran across a pension list he
was listed in. He was a blinded vet of the Civil War. Most of the Civil
War pensioners were receiving between $4 and $19 a month from the Federal
Government. One had a pension as high as $23. But our blinded vet had a
pension of $75 a month. HE was the only blind guy in the bunch. I guess it
was better financially to be blinded in the Civil War than it was to loose a
leg or arm.
