Thank you for posting this Robert.  It is very interesting.  I was
researching Charles Taggart from Utah a few years ago.  He learned piano
tuning as a blind man in England, where he was born in the 1860s.  It was
considered an unusual occupation for a blind man to take on.  In his case,
people were concerned about how he would travel and the safety in a  blind
persons of tools.
