I don't know how much interest there might be inthis, but here it is. It
might be desirable to send all orders for the state or chapter from one
person. If it is wanted, I would be glad to collect orders, but only for a
few days, because the order will need to go in. Therefore, I will take
orders until Wednesday morning if any are wanted. If somebody else on the
Eastern part of Idaho wants to take orders, they may be easier to deliver.

Of course, you can get much larger s d cards and thumb drives, so these are
economical only for certain things. If there is no need, we should not
order.

Subject: [State-affiliate-leadership-list] USB drives

For the last few years, the National Federation of the Blind has provided
the audio version of its publications on USB drive upon request. Many
listeners return the drives when they are done, but we still send out more
than we get back. And, so, it is time for us to order more.

We occasionally get requests from affiliates or divisions wanting to know if
there's a place that USB drives can be purchased cheaply. Unfortunately, the
price doesn't drop a great deal if you buy a couple hundred drives at a
time. We contemplate a large order and would like to know if any affiliates
or divisions would be interested in getting a handful or more while we are
making such a purchase.

The USB drives will be just like the ones we've been using for the Braille
Monitor, Future Reflections, and the Presidential Release. For those of you
that haven't seen them, they are the swivel-style drives-that is, the "cap"
is attached and swivels over the USB adapter. This means you won't have to
crawl under your desk or dig between the sofa cushions to reclaim the cap.
The drives will sport the new National Federation of the Blind logo and will
be a bright, energetic orange color with a silver cap. The national website
address will be on the reverse side. They will be 256 MB drives, big enough
for a whole lot of text or Word documents or good for the audio files of
perhaps five National Convention banquet addresses. For those of you who
need the visual explanation, see that attached file.

We can make the drives available to affiliates for $3 each. Drives are
expected to arrive in early November. If you have any questions about the
drives, delivery schedule, or other matters, please shoot me an email at
jberggren at nfb.org <mailto:jberggren at nfb.org> or give a call at extension
2329.

Kind regards,

John

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
