“The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; Blindness is not what holds you back.”

Subject: Cooperation with Be My Eyes

Dear Dana Ard,

My name is Aki Singh. I work with communications for the Be My Eyes app. I'm getting in touch with 'NFB of Idaho' because I feel that our app could be a useful tool for your blind and low-vision members.

About Be My Eyes

Be My Eyes is a free mobile app for iOS and Android, designed to bring sight to blind and low-vision people with the help of sighted volunteers from around the world. When a blind or low-vision user needs visual assistance, the app connects them with a volunteer through a live video call. The volunteer is matched with the user based on a mutual language.

Currently, there are over 1.6 million volunteers in the Be My Eyes community, ready and willing to assist. Users can request assistance at any time, as often as they like. At present, Be My Eyes is being used by 95,000+ blind and low-vision people. Most importantly, Be My Eyes is free to download and use.

This YouTube video explains how Be My Eyes works: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GRfFuWsjNU> Be My Eyes - Bringing sight to the blind and visually impaired.

Be My Eyes was founded by Hans Jørgen Wiberg, who is visually impaired himself. You’re welcome to watch Hans Jørgen's talk from TEDxCopenhagen, where he explains how it all started: <https://youtu.be/IfeLJxCSLC0> Be My Eyes: Hans Jørgen Wiberg at TEDxCopenhagen.

Share Be My Eyes

Introducing your community to the app could help continue and extend the excellent work you already do, and most importantly further assist your members in leading a more independent life.

Feel free to use our <https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/12_3WG0eVoRHZCdmVitaOJOxSIwR_nF2c> Media Kit - it has all the material you need to share the app on your website, email or newsletter. Are you already familiar with the app, but have members that are unsure of how to use it? Check out our <https://www.bemyeyes.com/get-started> Getting Started with Be My Eyes guide, and help them get off to a good start and make their first call.

Remember to like us social media, so more of your members know about us!

We would also be happy to get in contact and talk (maybe over the phone or Skype) about how Be My Eyes works, and to answer any questions you may have.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
