Here is a message from our friend Jeff Reichman who is holding an event exclusively for the blind in the Treasure Valley Area. If you are interested and available, I would encourage you to participate i this event. I believe it is important to support these activities run for the benefit of members of our community.
Let me know if you have questions. The event is this Saturday from 11-1.

HOWDY!
Pleas share with anyone who may be interested!
In just a couple of days, we will be having our 4th annual Treasure Valley Climbing On Stuff event for children who are visually challenged or legally blind at Meridian Speedway, 335 S Main Street in Meridian, ID 83642. (Take Exit 44 north off of Interstate-84) We are very excited to be visiting with the race car drivers at the track. The event will begin at 11:00 am and run until 1:00 pm this Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Thank you to our friends at Lithia Ford of Boise and Meridian Speedway who are sponsoring this opportunity. Without their support, this event would not be happening!
We are anticipating two to five different race cars that the participants will be able to “look” at with their hands. The participants will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with the drivers and check out their driving gear.
We currently have three participants on the roster. We still have room for 12 more participants. We are now opening the event to anyone, regardless of age! NOTE: If your name is not on the list below, then you do not have a reservation! If you have not completed a registration packet, one is attached and we ask that you return it to our office by close of business on Friday, July 9.
RESERVATIONS:
Edmondson, Tegan (Wheelchair – we will bring a lifting device to help accommodate.)
Jorgensen, Benson (Wheelchair – we will bring a lifting device to help accommodate.)
Roeder, Josh
Each participant will receive a die-cast replica a NASCAR race car, courtesy of NASCAR star Ryan Newman. The car is an exact replica of one of the cars that Ryan drives.
The track may have a few complimentary admission tickets for the evening’s racing events. Please let me know if you are interested in attending the races and how many are in your group – up to a family of four – and we will see if we can get you the tickets, no promises!
SIBLINGS: Our priority at this event is accommodating children with visual challenges. If we can, we will try to accommodate siblings, but make no promises! Please contact us to find out if there is room for siblings.
Participants should plan on arriving approximately 15-minutes early to get checked in.
>From I-84, once on Main Street, drive past the speedway and turn right into the first entrance past the track. This will be the entrance to the pits. Continue east on this road towards the pit entry. DO NOT Enter the pits, instead park in the gravel parking lot on your right, just before the gate. Look for Jeff – he’ll be wearing an orange safety vest to help you find him. (Map attached to this email, “X” marks the meeting spot!)
COVID PROTOCOLS: Keep in mind, this could change. We are not requiring masks. If you wish to wear a mask, that is acceptable. Hand sanitizer will NOT be available.
FOOD & DRINK: We encourage you to bring drinking water. There is a concession stand in the pits near the area where we will be having our event.
PHOTOGRAPHS: Photographs are allowed. We also ask that you please share your photos with Courageous Kids Climbing.
MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY: I plan on arriving at around 10:00 am. I may have one or two helpers with me.
FACEBOOK: Please monitor “Courageous Kids Climbing” on Facebook. I will post any new information here. At 5:00 pm on Friday, we’ll be shutting down the office! If anything changes, I will update this page before I leave McCall, Saturday morning at 7:00 am.
If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
NEXT EVENTS: We will be conducting one of our free climbing opportunities for people between the ages of 3-months and 103-years with special needs, physical or developmental and including visual challenges, at the Downtown YMCA on Saturday, September 11 from 10:00 am until noon. This event is being sponsored by Access Vans of Meridian.
Our next Climbing On Stuff event is planned with the Idaho State Police in Lewiston, Idaho on Saturday, October 2.
Contact me for more information on either event.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
