[NFB-Idaho] Resolution 2022-01 BSU Recognition

Below is Resolution 2022-01. Please review it as it will be presented to the NFB of Idaho membership during state convention for a membership vote.

We will be holding the resolutions Committee meeting at convention on Friday starting at 2:30 PM.
Anyone who wishes to meet and hear the proceedings or make comments are welcome to attend.

Boise State University Progress Toward Provision of Accessible Learning Materials for Blind Students

WHEREAS, blind studens must receive accessible materials including lectures, assignments, texts, and resource materials in a timely manner in order to maintain academic success; and
WHEREAS, receiving such accommodations does not result in loss of academic freedom; and
WHEREAS, failure to provide such services to blind students can result in impaired academic performance including delayed graduation, and hinderance of future employment:
NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED on this 23rd  day of April, 2022, at  the Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Idaho, assembled  in Idaho Falls, Idaho  that the National Federation of the Blind of Idaho commend Boise State University for hiring Dr. Natalie Shaheen a well-respected, highly qualified, blind educator and advocate, to work with the university to identify and remedy deficiencies in providing accessible materials to blind students: ; and


BE IT FURTHEHR RESOLVED,  the National Federation of the Blind of Idaho will continue to monitor Boise State University to insure blind students are provided with quality, accessible learning materials  that matches those of their sighted counterparts.
