I just reread the presidential report on the August/September thumb drive.
It is amazing to reflect on what we, as an organization have accomplished
this year.

I did not realize there was a recent change. Are you now getting thee
thumb

I am ttrying out Outlook New which must be an upgrade of hotmail.
Computers
for the Blind just downloaded it for the last two classes this year.
Best,
Ramona

Subject: [NFB-Idaho] binge-reading the Braille Monitor
I'm sure many of us binge watch our favorite shows either on tv or our
favorite streaming service. I have been binge-reading our national flagship
publication "The Braille Monitor." For many years, we could get this
publication on a thumb drive. I loved that, because I got to hear the real
voices of the presenters of articles, or at least a human reader. I also
was
reminded to read the Monitor when the thumb drive arrived. Then, the thumb
drives stopped coming. I began to read the "Braille Monitor" on NFB
Newsline, but I wasn't consistent. I was determined to read while making
lunch in the kitchen, but I would forget. I value our publication, and I
usually got most of it read on Newsline. The thumb drives are back. I am
having an inspirational time reading parts of the Monitor I missed and
rereading Monitors that I had read on Newsline. I get much more out of the
publication listening to a human reader. If you are behind on reading "The
Braille Monitor" I would urge you to start reading it. There have been some
very interesting articles on blind people with different careers, like
court
reporting, and realtor. A music teacher from the Mississippi school for the
blind shared how he uses his music classes to teach life skills to his
students. The August-September issue featured an article by Carlos
Servantes
on the value of structured discovery for students attending the Nebraska
Commission for the Blind's training programs. I had read this article
earlier, but got much more out of it reading a 2nd time. As you can tell, I
am excited about our "Braille Monitor." Give yourself a break during this
holiday season, and start reading. If anyone wants email copies, let me
know, and I will forward. The December and November issues are also on NFB
Newsline.
