Dear Dana,

 

Thank you for the opportunity to share an update with NFB Idaho. I
appreciate the chance to follow up.

 

As shared with patrons last year, the Idaho Talking Book Service (TBS)
partnered with the Utah State Library in September 2025 to ensure
uninterrupted service despite uncertainty in federal funding through the
Institute of Museum and Library Services. This transition was designed to
have minimal impact on Idaho patrons—and that remains the case.

 

We understand there may be some confusion about who to contact, but patrons
do not need to choose between Idaho or Utah. The most important message for
patrons is this: Please continue to call the Idaho TBS number: 800-458-3271.
Calls to this number are automatically routed to trained customer service
staff who can assist with all account needs.

 

Customer service representatives now based in Salt Lake City handle:

*	Account updates 
*	Audiobook and magazine requests 
*	BARD password assistance 
*	General questions 

 

Service hours remain the same: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT, Monday through Friday.

 

Patrons continue to have access to more than 100,000 audiobooks and
approximately 70 magazines, and now also have the option to request
large-print books, which had not been available in Idaho for many years.

 

This partnership allows the Idaho Commission for Libraries to maintain
consistent, high-quality service for Idahoans who rely on TBS.

 

Current Idaho staff continue to support the program through statewide
outreach efforts, helping to connect new patrons with TBS and educating
communities about available services. I am still the Idaho TBS liaison to
NLS as we are still a part of the network of libraries.
