Thanks--I did a new search on Amazon, and found one I think will work--supposed to arrive Monday! Just in time to make jambalaya for our Center of the Blind Mardi Gras potluck in a couple weeks! Reviews highly-rating, and there was a lot of good descriptive info. Here's the Amazon title: :

Hi Sandra,

Sounds like you and I had the same slow cooker and I think mine had a nonstick coating issue. I don’t have any suggestions except that you might try using a cooking bag. It’s a plastic bag that’s heat resistant and it’s like one of those oven bags that you put in for turkeys or whatever you want to use it for. There are bags that are created for cooking in a slow cooker. That would save you some cleanup and then you wouldn’t need to deal with the nonstick coating issue. I loved my slow cooker. I have several now, but none of them have the metal croc. I always found that to be light so maybe we don’t have the same cooker? Anyway, try that and see if that doesn’t at least help you till you get a new one. And then I promise you by the time you get the new one you won’t need to clean it up because you’ll have cooking bags. I’ve gone to a Hamilton Beach glass cooker And I haven’t had any trouble with those. The controls are invoked by using a dial which clicks into each setting. That’s still pretty standard. Your best bet might be target that’s where I’ve always found my cookers.
