[Nfb-krafters-korner] pictures

My daughter and I get a lot of laughs out of trying to figure out what I've
captured in a picture. So, I'd say that is one level of enjoyment. But
once you get the descriptions recorded, then being able to share your
memories with someone else who is looking at the pictures is another level
of enjoyment.

I've heard of some one who stands in his driveway on trash day and snaps a
picture of the curb line in front of him. He then e-mails the picture to a
friend who can then tell him where the trash cans have been left after the
trash has been picked up. Another person snaps pictures of canned, boxed
and other foods, e-mails them to friends and family to learn what each thing
is so that he can decide what to cook.

Ok, I've gotten off of the topic of crafts, but I think it was relevant to
the topic of picture taking. But I'm guessing that from here this topic
might need to be taken off list. That's up to Joyce.

Carolyn;
I surely understand where you are coming from, since you could see before.
What I am trying to find out is how a total can take a picture and be able
to enjoy it with out anothers description of its beauty. My friend was
taking pictures at National, so does that mean someone will have to describe
each one to her. They would for me if I did not make a note of what I took,
on the spot. That is why I thought of making notes on the stream for future
reference when naming or describing my pictures on the computer. How about
that! Two tiny devices to work together!

terry,
i believe most folks would be curious as to how a totally blind person could
enjoy pictures. in my case, i was sighted until in my teens. at that time,
my eyes stopped seeing but my visual brain never did.
i don't see black but pictures of everything i hear. for example, i imagine
that i see the computer in front of me, the room with the furniture i'm
sitting in and the doors and rooms off of this one.
i still dream in full color and pictures too. my husband will tell you that
out of anyone in our family, i am the one always wanting a photo taken of
someone.

HTH,
carolyn
