Hi folks:

I got the below from another list, knitting related, that I subscribe to. The question that originally was started was what do you do to get yourself out of a knitting slump. I think these if altered a little could be applied to any type of craft ...

I've enjoyed the tread about how to break a slump. I've compiled the list (and added a few suggestions from other sources.) Here's what I've learned:

SlumpBusters

1. MOST FREQUENT SUGGESTION: Take a break. Change directions. Learn a new craft. Read a book. Your desire to knit will come back after you've given it a rest.
2. Embrace distractions. Don't let the UFO's drag you down. You haven't quit working on them; you just haven't gotten back to them.
3. Take up something small and fun that you can see completed easily.
4. Return to an unfinished project and finish it. The sheer joy of finishing something that has waited so long will fire you to knit again.
5. Start a new project that excites you.
6. Do the project that calls to you - the one you really want to do - instead of forcing yourself to finish the one you are on because.. (Fill in the blank.)
7. Learn a new technique or find a new toy/tool to help you knit. Have you tried lace knitting? Socks? Aran knitting? A knitting loom? Or a knitting machine? Do you use straight needles? Then try circulars.
8. Admit there is too much on your plate right now. Let go what you must (even if it's the knitting) and come back to it when there is more time.
