I was thinking of rubber bands and brailled index or plastic coated name
tag cards for yarn. I still depent on my sight, but have some trouble.
Some day when my husband is not around, I will have to label my own
yarn.

Cheryl:

Although I can't help with the fine points of needlepoint, I have worked
with multiple colors of yarn in my knitting. Determining the
differences among colors I imagine would be similar to what I do with
the yarns I use in knitting.

First, if you have a color scanner that can often be helpful, but not
all
the time. Sometimes, if I'm still not sure after scanning the yarn,
I'll
scan the yarn label using K1,000. This to doesn't always work, but
sometimes its useful.

Once you know what color thread you are using, you can do a few things
to know what each strand of color is as you work with them. You can
write the color name on an index card or dimo tape, put a hole punch on
the card or tape and then thread your yarn through the hole punch. If
you're not a Braille reader you can use knitting stitch markers (A
different one for each
color) and then keep a note of what marker is used for what color.

The shapes of standard stitch markers is rather limited if you can't see
color. I have ordered from a woman on line who makes some really cute
markers all different shapes that are easily felt. (I have no
connection to the business, I just think she has nice stuff) Her web
site is:

http://www.picturetrail.com/beadmarkers

You can email her directly from her web site to ask what markers are
easily distinguished by feel, she's very niceLet her know you're blind
and need to go by feel, not color. Pretty sure her name is Karen ...
its been a while since I placed an order with her.

I Hope this helps.

Eileen
