Hats off to Becky!

You might want to have someone take a picture of you knitting on your
machine and submit it to the Braille Monitor, along with an article about
your new knitting business.

I'm excited for you.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] knitting machines are here!

After nine months of writing and rewriting my business plan, then waiting
for our State agency to figure out I can do this project, then the many
thumbs stuck up their behinds not wanting to approve my plan, then finally
they could not find reasons to disapprove the business, then them approving
moneys to purchase equipment with an eye dropper, and trust me other things
that nearly sent me screaming into the night, jerking my mentor and teacher
around on various levels and so forth, the knitting equipment is safely in
my studio in my home; it isn't paid for, growl, but it is here.

Last night I knitted a very simple dish cloth. I have never knitted with
this type of cotton yarn before, so had a few oopses, smile, but they were
my oopses on my machines, well as soon as the person who extended his credit
gets paid by the state, growl.

Lessons are going very well with my mentor and teacher. I made a beautiful
prayer shawl. It is blue edged in creamy white. The baby blanket was made
from a very interesting yarn. The yarn is a pretty tan with threads every
so often of other colors. In my case the one I made has reds, pinks, and
blue. So it looks really interesting to the eye.

A lot of what we are doing in class is learning gages, various stitches on
the machine. Ever yarn is handled differently by the machine, like the dish
cloth and my oopses. I had large yarn on a large chunky machine, but the
gage was wrong and the machine jammed just a bit, thus my oopse. I had a
pucker.

My husband had so much fun putting the machines together last night. He
could not wait to try the machines, smile. So I set up the chunky machine
and he went at it knitting. He had the biggest smile on his face as the
knitting appeared in front of him.

I just had to share with all of you! Woo hoo!

Becky and my full partner Jake
