Terry:

Your message does not indicate what type of increase you are trying to work.
>From the sound of it, it seems to be the M1 (Make 1) increase.

To do the M1 Inc, knit to the point on the row where you want the increase.
Then, yes, lift up the little horozontal bar between the stitch on your
right needle & the stitch on your left needle. Place it up on the left
needle as Joyce has instructed you to do and then knit into it. Lifting the
bar onto the needle does not make a solid closed loop, it will feel like a
half a loop-- in other words, kind of open on one side of it. Don't worry
about the fact that the loop is open a bit, just treat it like it is a
closed loop/stitch.

If the M1 increase is to difficult for you to work, then don't obsess over
it, just do a more simple increase of knit into the front & back of the next
stitch to make a single increase. I used the KF&B myself and its totaly
fine and doesn't make a hill worth of beans difference in the over all
appearance. This edge will be right near the seam so will not be
noticeable. In fact, I suspect that working an M1 inc near to the seam
might make the seaming a little more difficult.

Eileen
