Stitch markers can be as simple as rubber bands or as fancy as beaded
trinckits that you slip on your knitting needles to mark rounds, how many
stitches in a pattern or just every x amount of stitches in order for you to
keep count of how many stitches you have in a row.

There has been suggested these loccking stitch markers that are available
for the use of a dropped stitch. These locking stitch markers can be
slipped on the loop of a dropped stitch and locked in order to prevent the
stitch from pulling out and running. Then you can go back and rework that
dropped stitch back up to it's original place.
