Hi Terry K:

I don't know what they were NOT looking at, but I just checked on their web
site, and they do have Clover brand bamboo 13 inch long, single pointed
(A.K.A. straight needles in sizes U.S. 0 to 8. I suggest you get the size
8. Here is the link to the Clover Bamboo single point needles along with
the size 8 information:

ng+Needles+Pair.aspx
13" (33cm) CloverR Bamboo Single Point Knitting Needles Pair, Size 8
CR014504-0008 $5.75

As for yarn, if they can't find that I'm shocked. They carry tons of yarn.
Here are some I would suggest, but you need to decide if you want to try
knitting with 100% acrylic, a blend of acrylic & wool, or 100% wool:

1. Acrylic (machine wash & dry) HerrschnersR Worsted Weight Yarn. You can
read about colors, yardage, etc at:
http://www.herrschners.com/Product/Herrschners+Worsted+Weight+Yarn.aspx

2. Blend of acrylic & wool, HerrschnersR Wool Blend Yarn. Check out
colors/information about the yarn at:
http://www.herrschners.com/Product/Herrschners+Wool+Blend+Yarn.aspx

3. 100% wool (hand wash & dry only) HerrschnersR Worsted Wool Yarn. I've
knit with this and its very nice yarn prices is higher than other 2 because
its 100% wool. Check out colors/information at:
http://www.herrschners.com/product.aspx?sku=010179P&qid=

Now, if Herrschner's customer service is not helpful to you then I recomend
you try going to www.knitpicks, get the 1-800 phone number, and just order a

pair of Harmoney wood single point knitting needles in size 8 and you can
ask them what "worsted weight yarn" they have and recommend for a beginner
knitting class. I think their Swish is a worsted weight yarn that is
appropriate. You want a smooth, non-textured yarn for learning.

Eileen
